How We Help

Below are just some of the services that we are able to provide to our clients here at Sound AcuHealth.

No matter what your symptoms are or condition is, we are health practitioners that take a one-to-one approach with all of our patients.

We are here to use all of our knowledge to help point your compass toward greater health.

Acupuncture Treatment

Acupuncture is the use of incredibly small, solid, filiform needles placed at specifically chosen Acupuncture points or Ashi points (Trigger points or painful points) to treat just about anything that ails you.

Acupuncture is a time-tested therapy that dates back thousands of years. It has been used within many different cultures as a primary form of medicine.

At Sound AcuHealth, we do a lot of work with all types of pain management and injuries but are also able to treat other conditions such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Insomnia

  • Menstrual and Menopausal symptoms

  • Headaches

  • Fertility

  • Digestion Issues

  • Hormone Imbalance

What makes acupuncture different

One of the things we believe that sets Acupuncture apart from most other therapies, is that we are able to turn off the Sympathetic Nervous System (your “fight or flight” mode) during treatment.

Even though this is something most people rarely are able to achieve, it also happens to be when when our bodies do their best self-healing.

Likely due to the stressful nature of our modern lives, it’s common for people to run their stress response all day long, perhaps even through their first few hours of sleep.

Because of this pattern, they may never enjoy a sense of relaxation long enough to deactivate their Sympathetic Nervous System and let their body do what it wants to do — heal!

How we do acupuncture

On top of specific treatments we are working on in a session, our acupuncture treatment alone is able to reset your body, allowing healing to continue even after you’ve left our office.

At Sound AcuHealth, we use a Whole Body approach to treat the root cause for healing rather than a band aid approach that merely covers symptoms. We strive to not only have you feeling better and more relaxed getting up from our treatment tables, but also helping you to get your body on the right track as to becoming more balanced and healthy from all angles.

Point Injection Therapy (PIT)

Nikki Dvorak, LAc, EAMP, LMT is one of very few select Acupuncturists in the State of Washington to be designated with a certification in Point Injection Therapy.

Nikki received her certification in 2018 and Point Injection Therapy (PIT) has quickly gotten popular at Sound AcuHealth to successfully treat anything from:

  • Muscle pain

  • Nerve pain

  • Pain due to inflammation

  • Insomnia

  • Anxiety

  • Immune system boosting

  • Energy boosting

  • Vitamin deficiencies

  • ...and many more ailments

PIT works by injecting a small dose of organic plant based, mineral, and/or vitamin homeopathic formulas into Acupuncture or Ashi points.

There is little to no pain with the gentle formula and very small needle. This can be a much safer, effective alternative to Cortisone injections as well as a much less painful procedure.

Nutrition and Supplement Counseling

We combine both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) knowledge to go hand-in-hand with your other therapies to help you get to the healthiest you.

Nikki has highly specialized knowledge of supplements and loves to help patients reach their health goals naturally. With this approach, she has taken special note of patients who see big improvements from combining Sound AcuHealth’s treatments with nutritional and supplement counseling.

Truly, therapies that work in conjunction from both the inside and the outside produce excellent results for patients.

We welcome you to bring in any lab work results to your next appointment to have analyzed if you’d like to try a non-pharmaceutical approach to your healthcare.

We also carry high-grade, “Professional Only” supplements and encourage you to ask us any questions you may have regarding these versus what you may be already taking. Quality and source can make all the difference when taking supplements.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a form of soft tissue work that we perform often by placing plastic or glass cups on your skin to create suction.

This can be done by either of our therapists, however, fire cupping with glass cups can only be performed by Acupuncturists and is a slightly different experience as the cups are then smooth enough to glide over the skin and have more of a massaging effect.

People get cupping for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

We are often asked if the marking that cupping leaves is considered bruising. And while yes, it is common for cupping to leaving marking, bruising is caused by trauma to the tissue, which is not the case here. Instead, we are bringing blood in and bringing toxins to the surface and out of the tissues in order for them to heal more efficiently.

Most patients feel immediate pain relief and warmth and report never thinking twice about the markings that dissipate within 2-4 days as the pain levels are much decreased.

Guasha Therapy

Guasha is another soft tissue technique we often use in combination with Acupuncture treatment. While it can leave similar markings to cupping, guasha doesn’t use suction. We use specialized tools to scrape the skin and break up fascial adhesions while bringing blood to the affected areas.

Guasha is translated to Gua – the act of scraping, and Sha – the color that remains for 2-4 days. This color indicates the area is continuing to heal after having adhesions broken up and being flooded with fresh blood.

Depending on what is going on in the body, the Sha can be different colors and can also help direct us in treatment as to what is stagnant in the problem area.

This technique is also often used for boosting the immune system.

Massage Therapy

Most of our patients are quite familiar with massage therapy as a treatment.

Massage therapy can be included in some acupuncture treatment sessions as well as be its own independent, full treatment.

Our providers specialize in treatment and deep tissue work, and enjoy working with all kinds of injuries and chronic aches and pains.
